Why?

There is a lot that the #Murdertrending description left me wondering, but all in a very good way. I want to know when the book is set, if we get to find out how The Postman app came to be - and how Dee came to be there. Not to mention, if she can survive and how.

Plus, the Death Row Breakfast Club is basically enough, all on its own, to make me want to read this book. Adding in that it's written by Gretchen McNeil and I am incredibly curious to discover this story. It's a dystopian, near future thriller, that seems like there will be some snark, too - what more could you want?

Why?

I love that we have so many stories now where the female character is not waiting around for some big, strong man to come save her from the monsters or other danger. She can save herself - and probably all the guys, too - thank you very much.  It can make for a much more rewarding and satisfying read.

I do still, however, like stories with some princes in them - and I want to know if the prince Mia is supposed to marry is only a literal prince or if he turns out to be more.

Plus, I just like tales of magic, whether it's good or bad, and how it - the discovery of their possession of or ability to use it - can lead to characters having to question things about themselves or their world. (And girls that can use knives are pretty fun, too.)

I look forward to discovering just what Heart of Thorns has to offer.

Why?

I really, really, really loved Erin Bowman's Taken - I loved the mystery and the unknown about what was happening to the characters, what they believed and what was really taking place (whether or not those were the same things).

Minus the dead bodies the crew finds, Contagion is like an outer space Croatoan and I absolutely love the possibilities that presents. And that there ware so many of them I likely won't even consider.

There are 'monsters' - and I really want to know if that's meant literally or figuratively, or both -- and it's outer space and there's a mystery and their lives are under threat and I cannot wait to discover Contagion

Why?

It is not exactly a secret that I love books with pirates, maybe probably especially when those pirates are girls or women or when girls are on a pirate ship in an unexpected or unknown way. I loved Avi's The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and really enjoy books that take some of the similar ideas or themes and make it for readers that are a bit older;. It allows for so much more danger and suspense and (sometimes) romance and greatness.

I like that The Unbinding of Mary Reade is about girl who is hiding who she truly is and not only from others, but, possibly, from herself as well. I think that will add a truly intriguing angle to this story.

Why?

The Book of M was on yesterday's Top Ten Tuesday list of book I most wanted to get early - and here's why: I love near future ; they allow us to enter a world that is so very similar to our own that it's easy to recognize and relate to .. . . which then only makes whatever fantastic/magical/dystopian/scientific thing is happening all the more startling.

I also really enjoy books that deal with memory problems or issues the characters are experiencing - whether for a scientific reason, a medical one, something supernatural, or reasons yet to be discovered.

I am incredibly intrigued by the part of the description that tells us those who lose their shadows, " gain a strange new power." Not only do I want to know what exactly it means, I also am very curious how everything is tied together.

Plus, there's, "an abandoned hotel deep in the woods" and a sinister cult. Definitely count me in for this one!

Why?

I very much enjoyed reading both Tamara Ireland Stone's MG novel, Click'd (review) last year and 2015's YA novel Every Last Word (review). Plus, I like stories where best friends (especially ones living next door/across the street/otherwise very near to each other) have some sort of falling out and you get to see how that works - and hopefully a reconciliation, too.  All of that closeness and/or forced interaction can end up telling you a lot about the characters individually,more so than just a working friendship would.

I also like that this novel says it deals with Hannah, her faith, her family and how problems impact all of that.

(It has a very lovely cover, as well.)

Why?

I really love Courtney Summers writing (my reviews of her previous books). They are not easy stories and they will tear you up or make you want to rage at the world or cry for their characters - or some combination of all three - but that, actually, is why I do love them. They are real and honest and can be heartbreaking and sardonic. They make you think about things you do need to think about. Instead of glossing over the messy, painful bits, that's where they focus.

That they're calling Sadie, "the breakout book of her career," makes me that much more eager to read it!

Why?

The world, Speth's life and how words had been monetized, we were presented with in All Rights Reserved (review) was intriguing. I really enjoyed discovering what all the implications of such a world (such a life) and seeing how much of an impact it had on the characters' lives, their emotional state, their relationship, even their thoughts and self.

With what we now know of that world, what Speth has done and had done to her, I am really looking forward to reading Access Restricted. I am curious to find out if we learn more about the structure and operation of that world and society, as well.

I don't think I actually have any idea, really, what The Museum of Us is about (obviously secrets) but I am absolutely intrigued. I really want to know who (or what or whatever) George is and how he is a part of Sadie's world and what it being a 'secret life,' really means.

This book's description definitely has me very curious and eager to read it and discover some of its secrets.

Why?

To start with: that title has me curious enough that I would probably want to read it even if the book's description was not also really making me want to read this.

I tend to really enjoy novels where the characters are experiencing some sort of memory problems, especially when those missing (or compromised or repressed) memories are of some sort of tragic event that may or may not be the character's fault.  It can make for a great read when you don't know whether or not to trust the character (and, maybe, neither do they).

I'm curious what Theo's dad's path to self destruction entails and intrigued by the fact that its' set as Theo's about to graduate, leave town.

Why?

It's in space and there are royals which has so many possibilities right there. Then our main character is a girl who doesn't fit in and is the evil princess' doppelganger? This book sounds like so much fun (and drama and emotion and awesomeness).!

Oh, but I want to read this one and discover Dihya and about the Vathek empire and meet Amani and find out what happens to her.

Why?

I really, really, really enjoyed reading Traveler (steampunk pirates, remember?) and the second book was one of those I was most looking forward to for 2018. I very much want to know what happens in this new story. I know I'm going to need to reread the ending of Traveler to refresh my memory but it had something that made me very eager to read the sequel.

I really cannot wait to read Dreamer and find out what it has in store for Jessa, the other characters we've already met and any new ones!

(Plus it's from Swoon Reads which greatly increases the probability of it being a great read for me.)

Why?

I like the way some books are creating worlds (sometimes nearly the same as the one we know) where characters know the day they are going to die. It isn't a new question ("If you could know when you were going to die, would you want to know?") but the ways the authors explore the possibilities is new and makes you think.

I enjoyed both of the Denton Little books by Lance Rubin (Denton' Little's Deathdate and Denton Little's Still Not Dead) and Adam Silvera's They Both Die at the End. 

The Raging Ones has me that extra little bit intrigued because it involves space and leaving planets and ice prisons!

All the more relevant GIFs are on old computer but this one's fun, so . . . .

Why?

Lock In (my review) was a fun read that I remember I liked but - because I read in in the end of 2014 - I don't remember that much else about it, so I look forward to rediscovering those characters and that world. (It's a 'standalone follow-up,' so not remember most of Lock In should be fine.)

I really enjoy reading near-future tales, especially when they mix in either real, factual science with the fictional, or science you can believe is real.

Hilketa sounds like a cross of the gladiators from Ancient Rome, video games . . . and (at least to me) Quidditch and I'm interested in how it came about but also kind of horrified at the description. It should make for an entertaining, possibly troubling and/or thought provoking read, though!

Why?

The first few sentences of this book's description are probably what have me the most curious about it, the most intrigued to read it. If a twelve-year-old disappeared and he was not kidnapped, then what happened to him? Did he run away? And how has he been living for the past five years? It leaves me with a lot of questions, for sure.

I also want to know how the money will 'save' Trip and to find out how it all plays out.

Why?

There are so many different elements of this that sound appealing to me: first it's science fiction on a 'junkyard island' and there's radiation; Eve built a gladiator robot -- which I love for the gladiator part, the robot part and the Eve building it part; and the androids. Then also? Her best friend is named Lemon Fresh. That is just the right level of absurd and quirky, I really want to know why that's her name (if there is a why).

I really want to discover this junkyard Eve lives on, why the sky 'glows with radiation,' what the gangsters are like, how much the androids and gladiator robots are a part of their society, and, of course, if Eve can stay ahead of the danger. Or what happens if she cannot.
