SBBS: Day 19 ~ Tiffany Truitt

Spring Break Blog Spectacular ~ Tiffany Truitt Interview & Giveaway

Today's SBBS guest is Tiffany Truitt whose debut comes out in June from Entangled Publishing. Chosen Ones not only sounds great but it has a cover I can't get out of my head  I love the way it's beautiful but still dark - and seems to fit with the plot (can't wait to read it!). Hope you enjoy Tiffany's interview, some info on the book and then a chance to read an e-version of the book.

Interview:

Ideal spring break destination: ski chalet or tropical beach villa?
Couldn't I do both? I love to travel, so I’d be up for anything. But since it has been a pretty mild winter here in Virginia, I wouldn’t mind traveling to a ski resort.

In high school/college which was more likely spotting you on MTV’s Spring Break or just you and your friends enjoying the week off?
Most of my Spring Breaks were spent visiting with friends and family. I did spend one Spring Break in London, and that was pretty wild…at least according to British sensibilities.

What was your favorite Spring Break ever (where and/or why)? Or if you didn't go on spring break trips, where did you always want to go?
Like I said above, London was a blast. I was studying abroad at the time and two of my great friends came over to see me. We bummed around London for a weekend, and then traveled back to Derby where I was studying. It was great showing my friends around, and I only had classes two days a week…so we had a ton of fun.

Fly and have the fun be at the destination or road trip and have the journey be at least half the fun?
I road tripped to Chicago this summer with a friend. We were going to Lollapalooza. The drive up there was amazing. We took our time and really enjoyed ourselves. We loaded up the IPod and sang at the top of our lungs the entire way there. The drive home was less fun as we were both super tired from three days of concerts. But I’m planning on making the 17 hour trip again this summer!!

Do/would any of your characters take Spring Break trips?
If they could, I’m sure they would. But one of the staples of Dystopian lit is very little travel options…unless you’re on the run.

Where would their ideal Spring Break destination be? (Together or on their own.)
I think Tess would like to go anywhere outside the compound. But it is the only life she has known, so I am sure she would be a bit apprehensive.

Which of your characters (in anything upcoming you have) would you most have liked to have met on a Spring Break trip?
Henry. He’s the most adventurous of the group, and he doesn’t always make the wisest choices…perfect spring break companion.

Best book to read on Spring Break or a road trip?

Kerouac’s On the Road is always fun.

About Chosen Ones:
The Lost Souls, book 1 hitting bookshelves June 12, 2012 from Entangled Publishing!

I pushed down a key. The hair on the back of my neck shot up, and my skin tingled.
I imagined this was what it felt like to fall in love.
In that moment, I was ready to fall.

Life is bleak but uncomplicated for Tess, living in a not-too-distant future where the government, faced with humanity’s extinction, created the Chosen Ones, artificial beings who are extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.

When Tess begins work at Templeton, a Chosen Ones training facility, she meets James, and the attraction is immediate in its intensity, overwhelming in its danger. But there is more to Templeton than Tess ever knew. Can she stand against her oppressors, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?
