SBBS: Day 06 ~ Jennifer L. Armentrout

Spring Break Blog Spectacular: Jennifer Armentrout Character Guest Blog & Giveaway

Today’s blog comes to you via Jennifer Armentrout – or rather, Katy, the main character in Obsidian, the first book in Jennifer’s Lux series and a book blogger.

Read through to the end of the post for the chance to win an ebook copy of Shadows, a Lux series prequel and an e-copy of Obsidian book number one in the series!

Hi, I’m Katy from Katy’s Krazy Obsession and I’m so happy to be at Book Sp(l)ot Reviews talking about Spring Break!

I never really did the whole Spring Break thing. I know. Sounds lame, but I grew up within a few hours of a beach, so scampering off to one for Spring Break never really appealed to me. I’d rather be spending the week out of school curled up on the couch reading books.

Which brings me to my guest post! Books about or revolving around Spring Break. Surprisingly, finding books revolving around Spring Break is really hard unless I go back to my stash of old school R.L. Stine Fear Street and Ritchie Cusick, so I’m going to give you a few books that occur during a different kind of break—summer break, which is like a way more awesome version of Spring Break but kind of the same thing.

The Summer I Turned Pretty/It’s Not Summer Without You/We’ll Always Have Summer
Lola and the Boy Next Door
Kiss Crush Collide
Invincible Summer

Twenty Boy Summer
Playing Hurt
(I do believe this takes place over some kind of break, and if it doesn’t, just read it for Clint. Trust me.)
The Goddess Hunt (a novella that takes place during a different kind of summer break. Think Hades and Persephone and it’s her time to run amuck in the mortal world.)
The Boys Next Door
Good For You
If I Can’t Have You
Just a Summer Romance

(A lot of contemporaries in there except The Goddess Hunt. I’d be hard pressed to find paranormal(s) revolving around either type of break BUT Unearthly has a wonderful summer break portion).

And here are two Spring Break titles to add to your list:

Spring Break (part of the Summer Series)
Feathered

So, if you’re like me and will be staying home during Spring Break, these titles will surely cure you of any boredom and have you yearning for summer.

I’m signing out now. Got a six and half foot… alien standing outside my door. Apparently, it’s time to work off that trace with Daemon again.

Peace out!

Thank you, Jennifer, Entangled Publishing - and Katy!

(nb: all the Goodreads link for the books came from me, any mistakes are mine not Katy's ;-))

About Shadows:
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

About Obsidian:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.And then he opened his mouth.Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me.You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

  4. I reread Delirium by Lauren Oliver over spring break and I loved it just as much as the first time :) I also read Pandemonium (that's why I reread Delirium) and Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins and The Savage Grace by Bree Despain which both were amazing conclusions but I was depressed that they were over.
