Here is the summary of the novel due out January 3 (from HarperTeen):
Joy Delamere is suffocating...
From asthma, which has nearly claimed her life. From her parents, who will do anything to keep that from happening. From delectably dangerous Asher, who is smothering her from the inside out.
Joy can take his words - tender words, cruel words - until the night they go too far.
Now, Joy will leave everything behind to find the one who has offered his help, a homeless boy called Creed. She will become someone else. She will learn to survive. She will breathe... if only she can get to Creed before it’s too late.
Set against the gritty backdrop of Seattle’s streets and a cast of characters with secrets of their own, Holly Cupala’s powerful new novel explores the subtleties of abuse, the meaning of love, and how far a girl will go to discover her own strength.
Don't Breathe a Word on Amazon & here it is on Goodreads (where there's also a giveaway)
Tell Me a Secret was so, so very real - even when I didn't agree with the characters - that while this certainly doesn't look like a light, easy book, I absolutely cannot wait to read it. I also like that it seems like it will also have a lead female character who works throughout the book to discover herself and, as the synopsis says, 'her own strength.' That was a true high point with Cupala's debut.
This wonderful sounding book's release date is almost here . . . and I'm so thrilled!
What's the book you're waiting on this week?
Ok Holly's first book made me cry so I'm sure this one will be just as emotional. I can't wait!
