Rich and Mad by William Nicholson
(and don't you just love that cover?)
Goodreads synopsis:
This is a compelling and beautifully written novel about first love, first sex, and everything in between. Maddy Fisher has decided to fall in love. And not just any sort of love: can't-eat can't-sleep crazy in love. Rich Ross is after the same thing. He's set his sights high, and he's going to make it happen. The problem is, in life's messy whirlwind of friends and lies and sex and porn, the real thing can be hard to fine. But there's always a first time for everything. . .
I consider the Amazon synopsis mean and spoilery so I'm a little put out with it right now, but here's the link to that page so you can pre-order if you would like :) Rich and Mad on Amazon
Besides being mesmerized by the cover (and I can't even explain why, I just love it), I've really been loving contemporary YA love stories lately. And I really seem to love YA books that are either from UK publishers or first pubished in the UK--I love my US books, too but I love some international writers sometimes. This combines both of those things I can't seem to get enough of at the moment.
I also just love the way the title doesn't let you know right away that it's the characters' names. It sounds like it's about some crazy upperclass teens (or some angry ones), but then you read about it and realize it's the characters....
Rich and Mad is out September 14, 2010 from EgmontUSA in Hardcover. Pre-Order from Amazon
